On July 1, 2005, Spike Brewer went bravely and peacefully to Rainbow Bridge. Spike joined Older Cats Society in the Spring of 2000. She and her sisters, Sasha and Sammy, volunteered to assist Blackie Jamison, then leader of OCS. Spike assumed the role of OCS Leader when Blackie resigned in October 2000. Under Spike's leadership, the membership grew and many older kitties participated in a variety of activities.Even in difficult times, Spike maintained a positive outlook on life. She was always ready to extend a helping paw and offer a mew of encouragement. She was an inspiration to many kitties and she will always be remembered by those who knew her.
Spike's sister Sammy preceded her to Rainbow Bridge this summer. Although she was too young to join OCS, Sammy was a member of the Junior Support Group while it existed. After it closed, she continued to help Spike by creating many beautiful graphics and special awards for OCS members. Their older sister, Sasha, made her final journey in October 2001. A tribute in her honor is on the OCS Candle Page.
Please keep the Brewer Gang in your thoughts and purrs.
At present time, the future of The Older Cats Society is uncertain. Most of the OCS web pages were saved before GeoCities closed in October, 2009; however, relocating them is a time-consuming challenge for an older cat. Links that are currently disabled will be restored, as pages become available.
